Yonemoto Coffee Shop (Tsukiji Market)
Right in the heart of Tsukiji Market is Yonemoto Coffee Shop, a cute little spot where even John Lennon reportedly stopped! They offer amazing freshly brewed coffees like Blue Mountain No.1, Guatemala, and Ethiopia. We had the Blue Mountain No.1 and loved it – rich and smooth, a perfect start to the day.
Chikuwa with Cheese
At Tsukiji Market, we saw a stand with fried food on sticks and had to try one. The Chikuwa with Cheese is a popular choice in Tokyo. It’s a delicious mix of grilled fish cake and melted cheese, with a perfect smoky flavor. A tasty, easy snack for when you’re on the go! Can’t go wrong with melted cheese in our lives.
Takashin Suisan
A long line at Takashin Suisan for individual nigiri caught our eye. Our first nigiri in Tsukiji Market! The salmon and tuna were fresh and light. But at 800 yen for two pieces, it felt a bit pricy for us, though maybe reasonable inside the market. Outside, we found cheaper options. There are standing areas to eat your order once you buy it.
Oshokujidokoro Taneich (Tsukiji Market)
We chose Oshokujidokoro Taneich based on its photos and reasonable sushi don prices. We waited about 20 minutes in line, which wasn’t bad. Unfortunately, the gentleman who took our order overcharged us. There was a language barrier, but a server thankfully helped us fix it. Our Negitoro Salmon Don and Salmon Don Bowl Fish were incredibly fresh and melted in our mouths! Portions and price were fair for Tsukiji Market. Highly recommended, but double-check your change back!
Tomi Sujahta Silk Ice (Tsukiji Market)
Tomi Sujahta Silk Ice at Tsukiji Market is a must-try for ice cream lovers! We were the last customers before closing and grabbed strawberry and matcha. It was an amazing treat, our only ice cream of the trip, and just looking at the photo makes us want more! Every bite had real bits of strawberry and matcha. Plus, the vendors were super friendly and noticed our smiles as we enjoyed it.
Conclusion:
Our visit to Tsukiji Outer Market was great to get Tokyo’s vibrant food scene experience. It’s a fantastic place to explore, sample incredible local delicacies, and experience the authentic energy of Japanese culinary culture. We would recommend giving it a try, but note that the pricing would be considered on the higher end compared to other shops.
