Tokyo Bus Takoyaki

We hopped into a retro bus that was parked right outside the Red Tokyo Tower. The setting was adorable and unique, a fun throwback! We climbed aboard, found our seats, and enjoyed the novelty. Sadly, the takoyaki itself was pretty average, almost like it came from anywhere but Japan, and it was pricier than other spots. Great for the ‘gram, but truly a one-time experience.

Hachi Matcha Tea Hall at Shin-Marunouchi Building Store

Hachi Matcha Tea was alot harder to find than we thought as our GPS led us around. Once there, we found an elegant tea hall serving beautiful matcha. We had tried an Iced Matcha Latte which we found the matcha to be super good quality, but the flavor was surprisingly bland. If you like subtle matcha, this is your spot! Unfortunately, it looks like it is now closed based on Google.

The Matcha Tokyo

This is MUST try go in Japan! The Matcha Tokyo has spots everywhere – Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ginza. They serve up high-quality matcha drinks that blew us away. From all the matcha drinks, we have tried this place ranked #1 on our list! Our Iced Coffee Matcha Latte was mind-blowing – refreshing, real matcha, blended to perfection. Seriously, don’t miss it. The image before is the before and after mixing the drink.

Tokyo Station Ikaruga

Inside Tokyo Station’s bustling Ramen Street, we picked Ikaruga and went on a whim because of the line. We thought a queue meant good ramen. Turns out, it landed second-to-last on our ramen list. Super convenient for a quick bite in the station, but definitely not worth a special stop for the taste.

Ramen Barano

Craving ramen late at night, we tried Ramen Barano near our hotel (APA Hotel TKP Tokyo Nishikasai). Lots of empty seats, which was a bit concerning. We ordered ramen tsukemen (cold noodles with dip) and a tuna yukhoe rice bowl. Colin found the ramen just average. The tsukemen was okay, but nothing special. The Tuna Yukhoe Rice Bowl, though? Refreshing and delicious! That was the winner.

Ramen Menmaru

Just a two-minute walk from Sensoji Temple, we gave Ramen Menmaru a shot. It’s known for “hearty and flavorful” ramen. For us? It landed last on our list. It was cheap ($5 a bowl) and gave you tons of noodles, but the flavor just wasn’t there. We wanted more than just carbs! Want to read more about Asakusa? click here.

The Making of Harry Potter Tokyo Japan

About 30 minutes from Tokyo Station, Harry Potter Tokyo is a must-see for fans! Midway through, they offer themed food – Butterbeer, Beef Stew Pot Pie, a Christmas burger. The food lines were long, but the Butterbeer was delicious and sweet, making us want more! However, the Beef Stew Pot Pie was just average (more crust than filling), and the Christmas burger was too sweet with cranberry sauce. The fries were good, though. Our advice? Skip the food, just go for the Butterbeer!

DisneySea Tokyo Japan

DisneySea Tokyo has tons of snacks and restaurants. We tried most of them – Seaside Snacks, Chocolate Churros, a Gyoza Dog. All were tasty and flavorful, but also super expensive for single orders. We highly recommend eating before you arrive to save money. For our two-day pass, we always filled up before heading into the park!

Curry House Coco

There are a few Curry House CoCo Ichibanya locations. We decided to try the chain out as the name suggest they must have a good curry. We were surprised by how super affordable the prices were! However, we found the curry sauce a bit too thin and watery, though we did enjoy the chicken katsu.

Hakata Furyu Ramen

We absolutely loved our visit to Furyu Ramen! Beyond the super savory broth, what truly enhanced our meal was the generous assortment of complimentary toppings, from pickled radish to various pickled vegetables, allowing us to customize every bite. Plus, they offer up to two free noodle refills (kaedama), making it an incredibly satisfying and filling experience!

Kitano Ace Grocery store in Tokyo Solamachi

Located within Tokyo Solamachi, right by the iconic Tokyo Skytree, we decided to grab some nigiri when hunger struck. The grocery store boasted a fantastic selection of sushi that we absolutely loved and enjoyed. While there were some seats available for dining, we did find ourselves searching for a few moments before a spot opened up, indicating the seating could be more plentiful.

Conclusion:

Our Tokyo adventure was a delicious exploration, from quirky themed cafes like Tokyo Bus Takoyaki to top-tier matcha experiences at The Matcha Tokyo. Tokyo’s culinary landscape is truly a vibrant tapestry, offering memorable tastes and unique experiences at every turn. We loved Tokyo and would love to come back again.
