1. Café Crie (Kobe): A Perfect Pit Stop
Wandering down Kobe Motomachi Shopping Street, we spotted Café Crie – a minute away and just what we needed. We grabbed a black coffee and an iced matcha latte. We had a hot coffee and an ice matcha latte. The coffee was smooth and did the job of waking Colin right up! The iced matcha latte was perfectly blended and sweetened. Plus, Café Crie had comfy seats and free Wi-Fi, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
2. Dipper Dan (Kobe Harbourland Umie): Sweet Treats & Matcha
We couldn’t resist Dipper Dan at Kobe Harbourland Umie, especially with coupons from their website and a long line suggesting it was good! We tried their strawberry cream crepe and an iced matcha latte. The crepes were light, fluffy, and packed with fresh strawberries. The iced matcha latte had a rich, earthy flavor perfectly balanced with a light sweetness. It’s a great spot for a quick, sweet break while exploring Kobe Mall!
3. Mister Donut (Kobe): A Donut Dilemma
We have seen Mister Donut in a couple of other locations and finally decided to give it a try. The line at Mister Donut in Kobe was long, with a huge selection of donuts. We picked a few, but found them too sweet for our taste. They also weren’t as soft as we expected. While it wasn’t our favorite donut experience, it was still worth trying, given their popularity.
4.Kobe Chinatown: Hits, Misses, and Cute Buns!
Kobe’s Chinatown District offered a feast of options! We tried everything from Kobe beef to XLB dumplings, corndogs, and steam buns. The Kobe beef was amazing – perfectly marbled and cooked. However, the XLB dumplings were dry and below average; we wouldn’t recommend them. At the same spot, we also tried chicken karaage and a corndog, neither of which felt worth the price. The real highlight? A place with an adorable array of steam buns, crafted into cute shapes and characters. These were not only tasty but also so much fun – a unique treat for everyone!
Conclusion:
Kobe was a delicious mix of experiences! We found great coffee at Café Crie and fun, sweet treats at Dipper Dan. While Mister Donut was popular, its sweetness wasn’t quite our style. Kobe beef in Chinatown lived up to its legendary status – amazing! But other Chinatown bites, like some dumplings, were a miss. The absolute highlight? The adorable, character-shaped steam buns – a super fun and tasty surprise.
Overall, Kobe’s food scene is diverse and exciting. You’ll find hits, a few misses, and some truly unique treats. It’s all about exploring and letting your taste buds lead the way!
